What an exciting start to the term we have had so far! With Mother’s Day fast approaching, the studios have come alive with a flourish of fresh faces, smiles and colour, and students busily creating their unique pieces of floral inspired art.
Of course, the history of Mother’s Day is a relatively recent one. Historically a time to acknowledge, honour and celebrate those nurturing women in our lives, the day itself now holds a different meaning and sentiment to us all. What a joy it has been to watch students of all ages respond to this sentiment through the making of their own personal and individual works of art…slowing down, reflecting and observing along the way. From peewees to adults (and everywhere in between) the studios have been full of purposeful energy and focus this week.
Such a pleasure it has been to also see some of our lovely mums, taking the time to nurture their creative selves and finding a space to unwind through the wonderful Adult watercolour wreath workshops held at Glenelg.
Mixed media 3D flowers, acrylic still-life, chalk pastel, paper collage and dreamy watercolours; a range of mediums to embrace both colour, shape and detail. Working at their own levels, all students exposed to a range of skills whilst exploring their knowledge of colour, tools and materials.
This week holiday students are also ready to receive their final glazed and fired ceramics due for collection at the studios this week. So many delightful pieces to share and take home and so many smiles and stories shared along the way!
